How long have you been working for Air Rescue Africa?
I have been working with the Air Rescue Africa team for just over a year now and I’m looking forward to many more exciting years.
What are the skills you need to be successful in this position?
This position involves a lot of multi-tasking and to stay ahead of the game, one has to prioritise all activities and often deal with multiple urgent tasks at the same time. Clear and accurate communication at all levels within the organisation and with external contacts play a significant role in my daily activities.
To summarise, I would say that one needs to be a good organiser, communicator and a proactive individual to be successful as Medical Services Flight Administrator.
Which aspect of your job do you enjoy most?
The human contact! I am a people’s person and am at my happiest when I am interacting with different people and assisting the Air Rescue Africa crew. Through my mentor, Gayle Partridge’s ongoing support and encouragement my confidence is growing and I’m slowly developing my own “wings”

What is your position?
Base Manager, Lanseria
The Base Manager acts as the “hands” of the medical flight crew, enabling them to focus on providing excellent medical care. I ensure that the internal processes required to operate an air ambulance are effective and efficient. This includes resource planning, equipment control and maintenance, managing stock levels of medication, consumables and infection control resources etc
How long have you been working for Air Rescue Africa?
I have been with Air Rescue Africa for just over a year and prior to that held other positions with International SOS.
Moving to Lanseria as part of the Air Rescue Africa team has been a fantastic experience due to the great team and their positive spirit. The drive and dedication of Gayle, our Chief Flight Nurse is a daily inspiration to me and the rest of the team.
What are the skills you need to be successful in this position?
I need to be well organised and sensitive to the needs of the flying crew and our patients. Attention to detail is critical as there is really no room for error.
Which aspect of your job do you enjoy most?
The human interaction and challenges of each day make this position personally rewarding. There is also very little repetitive work and that ensures that each day is interesting and filled with unique challenges.
What makes our service at Air Rescue Africa unique?
The staff members are all extremely professional and are passionate about their work and dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to our patients. There is strong leadership in place that provides clear direction and support when needed.
